No other shop like this one in Delaware County! A must-see!
The shopowner, Ms. Stifani, recommended to me an interesting new book: BROTHER, I'M DYING, by Edwidge Danticat. If you're interested in Haiti -- or even if you know little about Haiti, like me -- you'll find this memoir eye-opening and engaging. It's about Ms. Danticat's growing up in Haiti, and her love for her uncle, who was like a father, while her real father was in the U.S. It is not overtly political or ideological, but rather personal and touching, with some hair-raising scenes of political turmoil. The author lets the facts tell their own story. In so doing, the reader gains new insights.
